Canon RF 14mm f/1.4L VCM Lens – for Night Skies and Vast Interiors
Announced on 5 February 2026, the RF 14mm f/1.4L VCM is the widest and fastest non-fisheye professional prime Canon has built. A 114° angle of view at f/1.4 is an unusual combination: wide enough to take in a whole room or a whole horizon, and fast enough to hold the Milky Way against it without pushing ISO into noise.
Focus is driven by a Voice Coil Motor, which is near silent and quick to settle, and the lens carries the manual iris ring shared across Canon’s VCM family — so exposure can be ramped during a take without the click of an aperture step. At 578g it is portable in a way that fast ultra-wides usually are not.
Who it is for
Astrophotographers, landscape shooters working at dusk, architectural and interiors photographers, and filmmakers who want a wide prime that matches the rest of the VCM set for size and handling.
